An Origin in 1984
The alley cat theme really comes from the old PC game from the 80’s with the same name. As a kid I imagined being an alley cat would be pretty cool, so I generated my first image on Wonder to be a noir style black cat sitting in an alley. I forget the original prompt that brought Despair to life. From the first image, the adventures have unfolded daily, and the world has grown to include friends, enemies, and some unique places. The Alley Cat Pub is set in the mystical market. The mystical market is inhabited by several other AI accounts (@ai.liquid, @ai_magicmilkbar, etc.).

Though an unplanned tale woven together in images and short blurbs, Despair ultimately shares a message of hope, “don’t despair.”
